Marilynn wanted to go to the top of the highest mountain in Germany. It is called the Zugspitze. It seemed harmless enough at the bottom where you get on.
But once you are on the tram and look up all you can see is that the mountain is big and the cables appear to end somewhere in the sky by the top of the mountain.
So now we leave the lift house and start up.
We are farther from the lift house.
Still farther. Oh, look there is a lake over there.
We are still going up.
Well, we just passed the first tower.
Now we are passing the second the second tower. Things as the bottom are starting to get small.
We just passed the car coming down. That means we have reached the half-way mark.
But we are still going up.
Now it starting to go almost straight up.
OK now this is getting serious and we are still going up.
And up...
And up...
Well, we are finally almost there!
Here is Marilynn on the Summit
Here is David. You can see the climbing "nuts" out on a rock taking their pictures at the highest point in Germany.
This is really nuts. If they slip off the rock, they are gone.
Behind the cliff face is a glacier bowl where they can ski in the winter.
This shows how the buildings cling to the top of the mountain.
Here is David standing by a wooden carving of a Gamz. That is what I ate the night before.
Here is Marilynn on the Austrian side of the peak.
