Today was drop-dead beautiful. We went to the temple this morning and I took this picture.
We have Elder and Sister Ivins here with us. They are currently serving in Bosnia but came up to the Temple with their mission and will be here for a week. After the temple, we went to the Roman Limes--that is a fence that the Romans built across Europe. Here are the Ivins', Marilynn, and the Eyre's in front of the Limes.
To guard the Limes, the Romans built this fort to house the army. Here we are in front of the Saalburg fortress.
This is Elder Ivins at the front gate
Here is a Roman shield and spear tip.
And they even had a Roman helmet.
They also had some real nice bowls.
Here is Marilynn talking to the Eyre's in front of the Mile Stones. The Romans placed these milestone markers along the highways so the traveler could mark their progress--before GPS was invented. You knew where you were each time you arrived at a milestone.
Here is Marilynn looking out of the Saalburg fortress.
Afterwards we stopped and had dinner. Here is Elder Madsen, Eyre, and Ivins.
This is the inside of the Gasthaus.
