OK The Christmas season is creeping into Germany. Just for fun I googled Aba Heidschi BumBeidschi. It is often sung at Christmas in Southern Germany and Austria. I think it came out of Austria as a lullaby. Maybe it comes out of the same place as the Grimm Brothers fairy tales. The message may be good but there is a tragic side as well. Below you will find the words in German and English (in Gray).

Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi, es schlafen
But Heidschi Bumbeidschi sleeping
am Himmel die Schäflein, die braven.
in heaven are the little sheep, the good ones
Sie ziehen dahin an dem himmlischen Zelt,
They fly along the heavenly canopy
(and) forget the world’s pain and suffering
Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi bum bum.
But Heidschi Bumbeidschi boom boom
Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi bum bum.
But Heidschi Bumbeidschi boom boom

Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi, wirst sehen,
But Heidschi Bumbeidschi, you'll see
wie schnell alle Sorgen vergehen.
how quickly all worries vanish.
And if you are also alone and lonely,
soon the angels with look through the window
Singen Heidschi Bumbeitschi bum bum.
Singing Heidschi Bumbeidschi boom boom
Singen Heidschi Bumbeitschi bum bum.
Singing Heidschi Bumbeidschi boom boom

Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi, schlaf lange
But Heidschi Bumbeidschi, sleep long
und ist auch dein’ Mutter gegangen.
and if your mother has gone away
and if she has gone and won’t come back
and leaves her little boy all alone
Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi bum bum.
But Heidschi Bumbeidschi boom boom

So now you know what the song is about the next step is to hear what it sounds like. Below I have way too many links to youtube. I don't think you can make it through them all unless you are as nutty as me--but here they are:

Good luck.
