This week's post is about food. Being a senior missionary is tough, but someone has got to step up and do it! There are lots of side benefits, but one for sure is the food available here in Germany. Once a month, the senior missionaries have a group family home evening (that is kind of interesting to have a "group" and "family" used in such a context, but they get away with it). Marilynn was on the food preparation task and the local people in Frankfurt are big on a substance roughly translated as "green sauce". Here is the green sauce set out on the table with bread and crackers. Green sauce is made from a yogurt like cream called quark. To the quark is added cucumbers, herbs, and egg and "Voila", you have green sauce. It can also be eaten on baked potatoes.
Then I tried my hand at desert making. This is a Crème brûléethat I made--With a super Lindt chocolate cracker.
The Roberts celebrated their last day in style. Here are Elder and Sister Roberts with Marilynn behind some of the goodies used for the occasion.
Here is Anahil (A returned missionary from Washington DC, Spanish, and a coworker, before the feast.
Another shot of food--glorious food (To quote from Oliver).
Elder and Sister Eyre invited Elder and Sister Livingstone and us over for lunch during general conference. Of course we had to wait for conference because of the time difference, so another food occasion occured.
This is back to the food at the Roberts' going away party.
As a prank, Sergio Rocha brought in some peanuts coated with wasabi. They had a little bit of a punch and I caught people's expressions as they realized the full power of wasabi.
