We went to visit some friends of the Jurgens in Solingen. Marilynn has ancestors that lived in Solingen and we wanted to see if we could find any further information. We couldn't. However we did meet this interesting man. His name is Max and he keeps fish ponds (raises fish, smokes, and sells them) and makes craft things. He made this slate heart for Marilynn.
This is a picture of Marilynn and I with Jim and Rona Jurgens--next are the two sons of the Zimmerman's, Michael and Thomas. Finally is Herr and Frau Zimmerman. Michael went with Marilynn and I to the city archive. He was very helpful, but we could not find anything new. Mrs Zimmerman works for the firm of Carl Mertens that makes stainless steel flatware. The owner of the business took us on a tour and the picture below is all of us in their show room.
Here we are in front of the Zimmerman home. At one time is was an old mill. Today it is a beautiful example of how an old house can be renewed.
Yesterday we went on a tour of the Rhein city of Koblenz. Below is a house with a carving of the Greek Goddess Hygieia.

This interesting geometric pattern is found when you look up at the Liebfrauenkirche ceiling in Koblenz
This is a Schängel manhole cover. Koblenz is known for the young boys called Schängel. They are actually quite naughty boys. If you look again closely you will see the Schängel spitting.
